The 7 rules
of engagement

Sure, your content looks AMAZING, but what is it actually doing for your business? Research shows 9 in every 10 pieces of content receive zero traffic. All that time, effort and money invested for nothing.

Don’t allow your content efforts to be another statistic. Be the anomaly. When your content engages on every level, you attract people, build better relationships, convert more of your audience – and can ultimately attribute greater revenue to your marketing efforts.

That’s why Challenge Marketing created these 7 rules of engagement.

Rule 1:
Be pitch perfect

To capture your audience’s attention you need to speak their language, articulate the value you deliver, and make them feel like they want to be in your ‘tribe’.

Rule 2:
Inspire confidence

You’ve also got to look the part. Your visual identity provides equal cues about who you are, what you stand for, the value you deliver, and what it feels like to work with you.

Rule 3:
Tell a great story

Draw your customers in to make a connection. Our brains are hard-wired to listen for stories – and people buy based on emotion (we only rationalise with facts).

Rule 4:
Get inside people's heads

Talk to one customer. Great content will make a mass audience feel like you’re only speaking to them, because it shows you understand their current context and mindset.

Rule 5:
Stand out from the crowd

Nobody engages with wallpaper. Be creative. Experiment with ideas. Find a new way to connect with people. It’s what draws attention to your brand.

Rule 6:
Pull together

Everyone’s a marketer. Whether it’s customer success teams enhancing the experience or finance using the right template, everyone and every asset needs to be aligned.

Rule 7:
Stay fresh

Don’t let your marketing get stale with the same old, same old. Think about refreshing, repurposing and respinning your existing content to engage wider audiences or for new channels.

Build better relationships
by making your marketing
more engaging.
