How Ortecha used AI visibility insight to focus its next steps

Ortecha’s content held up well under AI scrutiny, but the firm behind it didn’t: its founding date, size and relationship with key external sources were described differently depending on where AI looked. The fix was one clear, current statement of who Ortecha is, used everywhere.

“What really surprised me was how deeply AI examines the business behind the story. VIP uncovered issues most clients would never notice, but which could affect how Ortecha is understood and recommended. As we grow our AI and technology offer, it gave us real clarity about the story we need to tell and the proof we need to build.”

Pete Youngs, Founding Partner, Ortecha

Ortecha already had a strong reputation in data management, with well-built, evidenced content on DCAM, CDMC, data culture and AI governance. This wasn’t a firm short of things to say.

But it was growing. Since merging with Broadgate Consultants, Ortecha has been moving into broader data, AI and technology work, and its small marketing team wanted to know where to focus. Challenge’s Visibility Intelligence Programme showed how to protect the strength it had while making the bigger story easier for AI, and prospective clients, to understand.

The challenge

For a firm whose growth had come mostly through referral, the question was whether AI could see what clients already knew. And as the business changed shape, whether the public record was keeping up.

What we uncovered

The content held up well. Ortecha’s priority solution pages were checked directly and found to be well structured, answer-led and backed by case studies. AI assistants had already started sending visitors to its DCAM and data culture pages.

The gap was the firm behind the content. Its founding date, location, team size and relationship with Broadgate were each described differently depending on where AI looked. Several sources, including Ortecha’s own LinkedIn company description, still described a narrower, data-only business from before the merger.

From insight to action

The first move was clear and entirely within Ortecha’s control: publish one current, plainly worded statement of who the firm is, and use it everywhere. From there, the newer AI and technology pages could be built up to the depth of the established data content.

The recommendations were practical enough for a small team to act on in a way that suited its priorities and budget.

Why it mattered

Ortecha didn’t need another platform or dashboard. It needed someone to do the heavy lifting and explain what the findings meant for the business. VIP showed that details clients may never question can still shape how AI understands and recommends a firm.

What happens next

The next step is to repeat the Investigation once the entity story is aligned and the newer service content has had time to establish itself.

“As a small marketing team, this was exactly the kind of help we needed. There was no new platform to learn and no dashboard to decipher. Challenge did the heavy lifting, guided me through every finding and turned it into clear, practical actions that fitted our priorities and budget. The whole process was smooth, simple and genuinely useful.”
